Happy Lunar Year

By diafimin The Chinese New Year has just begon...

In Chinese language it is chunjie (春节), the Spring Festival. Although it is still winter, people welcome spring and the end of the cold days. Spring Festival goes according to the lunar calendar. Dates vary. But the celebration is the same… new beginnings, fresh starts, fireworks, no showering allowed on New Year’s Day. Also no sweeping and throwing out garbage before the 5th… so you don’t wash away the good luck!
And its the year of the pig, dedicated to beautiful personality and blessing with good fortune in life.

And somehow this illustration suddenly came back in my mind... and turned in january 2018 into a big orchestra.
Clean sketches, only black and white. New musicians joined the orchestra, a new idea based on an old one was born.
And now... available on T-Shirts, sweaters, hats, bags, cups, iPhone cases, and and and My first e-shop. :-)
And the collection is growing...

In the beginning... La Musica

This is how it all started... an illustration on 9 pieces of card board. Black & White. Filled in with some color. And finally with a bold background.
I liked it in the beginning, just black marker on white card board. But then was advised at the fine art school to color them.
It was still a lively illustration. But somehow got too 'heavy'.
